2 Vulcan Drive, Bridgewater, Somerset

Westonzoyland is located amidst the magnificent countryside of the Somerset Levels, 4 miles from Bridgwater. The village has an illustrious history with the Battle of Sedgemoor, the last major battle on English soil, fought to the north of the village on 6 July 1685 during the Monmouth Rebellion. It is also the home of Somerset’s earliest steam-powered pumping station built in 1831 to drain the low-lying lands of the Levels and is now home to a volunteer-run museum open every Sunday. Westonzoyland airfield served as a training base for pilots during World War II and is currently used by Westonzoyland Flying Club for flying microlight aircraft. The property is also a short walk from the development, close to the 13th-Century St Mary’s Church is the village pub, the Sedgmoor Inn. The pub hosts meetings of the Westonzoyland Carnival Club, one of the oldest clubs involved in the running of the famous Bridgwater Carnival. The village is also home to a popular primary school rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, a grocery store and a bright and spacious village hall with a busy schedule of weekly events. The location has a wide range of shops, that can be found nearby in Bridgwater where the Angel Place shopping centre is home to a variety of outlets selling everything from high-street fashion to essentials and groceries. Bridgwater railway station is a short walk from the town centre, where from here Bristol Temple Meads can be reached in 23 minutes, Birmingham 107 minutes, Cardiff 115 minutes and London Paddington in 155 minutes. Bus services also connect to many local towns in Somerset. The Westonzoyland area is a prime location for commuters with Bridgwater, Street, Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea all within a 15-mile drive. The M5 is also close by and easily accessible from either Junction 23 or 24 placing Bristol, Taunton, Exeter and most of Gloucestershire within easy reach. For travel further afield Bristol Airport is only 28 miles away.
