And any predecessor of these landlords

In order for our tenants to be as informed as possible before taking the first step to becoming a home owner, we have created a number of guides to help you. These will run through things such as how you can check if you are eligible for the scheme, the cost of becoming a home owner, which homes Stonewater will not be able to sell and what will happen if you are offered the option to port your discount.

    Your guides:

Once you have read of the above guides, the next step is for you to obtain a Unique Reference Number from the Government. Tenants must apply on the Government’s VRTB website midlands.righttobuy.gov.uk to obtain a Unique Reference Number (URN). The gateway on the website will open from 9am on 16th August 2018 and will be open for one calendar month [i.e. until midnight at the end of Sunday 16 September 2018]. A limited number of URNs will be available and not every applicant will be able to receive one.

Please note that, even if you do receive a URN, there is no guarantee you will be able to buy your home. This depends also on the eligibility of your home and its affordability to you.

Applicants will be chosen at random by ballot after the gateway has closed. The ballot has been chosen to ensure fair distribution of the limited number of URNs. Within a week of the ballot closing all tenants who have registered will be contacted to confirm if they have been successful in obtaining a URN and the next steps to take. If you have not been successful for the time being you will not be able to take part in the pilot. Once you have received your URN you will have 4 weeks to submit a completed application to us, signed by all parties and including all supporting evidence.

All applications to Stonewater will need to be made online via this webpage. We will only make this feature available on 17th September 2018 once the ballot process has closed and URNs have been allocated.

Please note that Stonewater are unable to provide previous Tenants with duplicate copies of their tenancy agreements to support Right to Buy, Right to Acquire or Voluntary Right to Buy applications. Stonewater are however, able to provide a reference letter which would confirm the dates of tenancy for your Stonewater home as well as the Tenants who were listed there. Stonewater will charge an administration fee of £30 inc VAT for this service. Please call 01202 319119 to submit your request.

    Next steps:

If you are keen to continue in the purchase of your home then you must ensure you register with the Government portal to receive a Unique Reference Number before it closes on 16th September 2018.
