Shottery View, Alcester Road, Shottery, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 9QX
Stonewater, in partnership with Bloor Homes, presents a collection of two bedroom houses for shared ownership at the popular Shottery View development in Shottery. Each house features on its ground floor a living/dining room with doors which lead onto the rear garden, a hall, a separate kitchen and a useful cloakroom with WC and hand basin. Each property also comes with vinyl flooring to the kitchen, bathroom and WC and fully fitted carpet to all other areas, and provides allocated off-road parking for two vehicles.
Originally a small rural village Shottery today is a district of Stratford-upon-Avon approximately one mile west of the town centre. Despite this it retains its village atmosphere, with a village hall, the Shottery Memorial Hall, and a local pub, The Bell Pub and Kitchen. Shottery also has its own playing fields, Shottery Fields, comprising two football pitches and a children’s play area. Shottery is, however, perhaps best known for Anne Hathaway’s house, the wife of William Shakespeare, who was allegedly born there.
Historic Stratford-upon-Avon is nearby; a footpath across Shottery Fields takes you directly into the town centre. Here a wide array of restaurants, bars, cafes and high street and independent shops can be found selling everything from antiques and art to vintage fashion and artisanal food. Famous throughout the world for its iconic Royal Shakespeare Theatre the town is unsurprisingly a theatre destination in its own right, with more than 15 theatres of varying sizes offering everything from fringe to major touring productions.
Schools in the local area include two in Shottery itself: Shottery St Andrew’s CE Primary School for pupils aged four to 11 and ranked ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and Stratford Girls’ Grammar School for girls aged 11 to 18 and ranked ‘Outstanding’. Slightly further away and also ranked ‘Outstanding’ is King Edward VI School, a mixed Academy for pupils aged 11 to 18.
Local attractions include the Welcombe Golf resort, comprising a grand hotel with pool, spa and championship-standard 18-hole golf course. Everyday shopping needs are taken care of by a large Tesco superstore less than three miles from the development.
Shottery View is well placed for transport links, being close to the main A46 trunk route. Royal Leamington Spa is approximately 13 miles away; Coventry City Centre just over 20 miles. Birmingham City Centre is approximately 34 miles from the development whilst London to the south is 102 miles away via the M4 motorway. The nearest station is Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway from where West Midlands Railway and Chiltern Railways direct services operate into Stratford-upon-Avon (six minutes travelling time) and Birmingham Moor Street (43 minutes travelling time). Birmingham International Airport is just over 22 miles away by car.
